What is LASER’s Standardisation?

These events are designed to support Centres in ensuring individual units are being consistently administered, assessed and awarded, in line with national standards, level and unit credit value.

Who should attend?

Assessors, Tutors and Internal Quality Assurers. We recognise operationally it will be difficult for all 3 to attend at the same time

What happens during LASER’s Standardisation events?

The event consists of:

• Standardisation activities, reviewing samples brought to the event
• review of last year’s Standardisation report and progress on any actions
• presentations of best practice used in Centres
• update on qualifications and products

Benefits of attending include:

• networking with colleagues from other educational organisations
• sharing best assessment and internal verification practices
• hearing and seeing ideas from others on how to develop your practice to continually improve
• CPD opportunity
• Confirmation you are operating at a national level
• Feedback to use as Standardisation evidence from another Centre

What do you need to bring?

Two samples of learners’ completed work for two different units being delivered. These must include a copy of the unit, the assessment task or workbook, tutor feedback, internal quality assurance records relating to the learners’ work you are bringing with you. Please make sure that you have a photocopy of every piece of work that you bring.

You are also invited to bring along any examples of good practice that you would like to share on the day.
